The Department of history is one of the scientific departments included in the school of Humanities at the Libyan Academy for graduate studies, and this department was initially established as a division of the Department of Social Sciences since the semester (fall of 2003), and then became an independent department in the spring of 2005.

The History Department of the “Libyan Academy for graduate studies ” aspires to provide an outstanding level in the field of higher education and scientific research, and to contribute effectively to sustainable human and Community Development.

The Department of history of the “Libyan Academy for graduate studies”, through its educational process, seeks to provide an outstanding educational program in the field of history and human civilization, and raise the level of scientific research and academic studies in the field of history in order to contribute effectively to devoting historical awareness to the development and education of society, through studying the development of human thought and exploring the cultural heritage of nations and peoples through various historical stages in order to understand reality and foresee the future.

Goals


By offering this program, the Department of history aims to:-

  1. Providing authentic and outstanding research studies in the field of history and human civilization.
  2. Formation and qualification of distinguished scientific cadres in the field of history and human civilization, and graduation of scientific competencies with critical vision, familiarity with research and academic aspects, and familiar with knowledge, science and values, to employ them in solving the problems of society and contributing to its development.
  3. Providing academic and research services in the field of history and human civilization by highly professional specialized professors.
  4. Enrich cultural and intellectual life, consolidate human values, and preserve Arab and Islamic identity through the development and expansion of the authoring, translation, and publishing movement, and social education services through the media, seminars, scientific conferences, and non-traditional education programs.
